Since the launch of this website in June, not a single statement has been made by New Square to justify or explain how they continue committing such blatant and harmful acts. Their refusal to appear on the David Lichtenstein podcast (HERE), and the Yeshiva of Newark Podcast (HERE) when invited to share their side says everything: they know what they’re doing is wrong.
We’ve learned they’ve approached multiple Rabbanim hoping for backing, but none have agreed to support a campaign that so openly violates both secular law and Halacha.
In the time since, two additional properties (21 Westview and 5 Tioken) have been converted into SROs (single-room occupancies), with deeply troubling tenants placed there and zero regard for the quiet, residential nature of the surrounding neighborhood.
This must stop – not with more stalling or shameful tactics, but with a real and permanent end to this destructive behavior. Absent serious and visible policy changes, we will view any outreach as nothing more than another attempt to buy time. Nothing less than a full reversal of these actions will be acceptable.

Very saddening. Can one get a TRO? What about those that bought there? Can they be thrown out?
It’s a long process to get a single TRO, think about getting 100s of them…
In order to brute force this, there has to be a high level investigation by the authorities to what’s going on here – organized mortgage fraud, housing violations, health violations, etc which will get a nice few of those landlords and organizers in jail and tenant evicted on a mass scale.
As far as I’ve heard, something like that is in the works already by some locals who are fed up.
This is the first time I am hearing about this. If this is accurate, it is very concerning to me as an American Jew. I don’t live in the affected area, but I would like to share my thoughts and feelings. We just finished another painful cycle of sadness and grief caused by the actions of Jews who were not kind towards each other. Every day we see the same actions demonstrated in Israel while a life and death struggle has existed for over 670 days. Pictures of muzzlemen are displayed by our enemies with relish. And here we have a “holy war” or should I say “unholy war” involving allegedly frum communities. I don’t know all the details of this story, but I am quite sure that I should unpack my go bag for the arrival of the משיח. With everything that is happening between our various communities, we are in deep trouble. As a child of two holocaust survivors, I beg each and every one to take steps toward peace between ourselves.

1 there’s zero right not to let people buy anywhere they want. They can ask beg not force.
2 ns people can also buy wherever they want for living or investment.
3 everyone should do everything legal no basement apartments no flips etc.
4 everyone wants to make the most money on their property but let’s try to find best tenants for the sake of neighbors ,we know more people in one house is more money . But try your best. 5 let’s try first to work on Linden Rossell and Rahway hundreds of houses bought and rented out also Williamsburg Houses built for artists , on ocean parkway few new projects for others that make neighborhood less safe . If we’ll be able to convince them that for few dollars don’t ruin our quiet neighborhood . It’ll be easier to convince people that even if you didn’t buy for money making just for keeping your values, loss some money and take smaller family’s for the sake of neighbors.
6 is there a heter to do mesira and call police for every noice ? Which Ruv is Matir ? Its damage to house owners. If yes let’s do it in linden where my neighbors also put in others making grills same for people in roselle and Rahway. Let’s try to look without any judgement .
